Gujarat Titans, one of the professional IPL franchise teams hosted in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It competes against nine teams in the Indian Premier League to win the TATA IPL championship title.

The Gujarat Titans team is owned and managed by CVC Capital Partners (a global investment firm), which is responsible for the team’s financial management, team building, community management, etc. Gujarat Titans play their home matches at Narendra Modi Stadium (GT home ground).

History

The Indian Premier League’s Governing Council wished to add two teams more to the IPL franchise in August 2021, A total of 22 companies showed their interest initially in buying the new teams but because of high bidding for teams, there were no more than 6th serious bidding companies. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) allowed the companies to be together to buy the teams or individually bid for each team.

In October 2021, CVC Capital Partners got the right to operate and manage the Ahmedabad franchise after a bid of ₹5,625 crore. In the IPL 2022 auction, they picked Hardik Pandya as the team captain and other players such as Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill. Thus the team was officially named by Gujarat Titans in February 2022.

At the start, People were not satisfied with the Gujarat team and thought they did not select the best players for Gujarat Titans and they would not be successful, Over time Gujarat Titans showed everyone better performance than their expectation when they won their match by beating another new team, Lucknow Super Giants.
